Five Obsessions I had in July

Looking through my list now, it seems like these items are united by a thread. A touch of whimsy, a little bit of… If I were a woodland fairy in disguise, this is how you would find me.

Let’s just dive in….

LADY BUG HEELS:

I was floating around Pinterest looking into the Polka Dot trend that has taken over summer. It’s been one of my favorite trends actually. It a fun classic pattern that can be incorporated in so many ways to bring life into an outfit. So, I stumbled upon this exact photo.

These are vintage Chanel 2004. They already had quite a moment already on social media and I missed it. I love how these have a minimalist design with the fine strap. but the vibrant green paired with the lady bug is a killer combo just perfect for spring/summer wear.

I also fell in love with this pair.

I find it charming because when I think of ladybugs I think about how pleasant of a bug they are. They are considered a sign of good luck and most people are fine with handling if it lands on them. They shoes instantly catch my attention because they add a touch of humor and really accent a simple outfit.

I picked up a pair of Betsey Johnson’s ladybug heels and they went with SO many outfits. If I felt like an outfit was missing something – boom. Instant way to add a pop. I think I also look more fun with these shoes on too!

I also found an example of some people who made their own ladybug heels!~

I like the the approach of using smaller ladybugs too. It looks more delicate and realistic. Also just picturing this pair on someone. It’s like a group of them came together to shower you in good luck.

Creamy Light Pink Lips

Some light a black lip, some like a red lip, some like a brown lip. I – I need a pale pink lip color. Chic, soft, but still sassy! It looks a little scary to pull off at first glance, but trust me. Once you find the right shade – you’re going to look like doll

They key is to use more than one makeup products to get the right hue. I especially love it with an all around pink monochromatic look or very light eye shadow. It’s looks glowy, and angelic.

Oh my goddddd….This shade in particular is perfect – I dare to say that it’s my inspo pic when going for pale pink lips.

LA Glace is killing it will the pale lips colors. Just their makeup releases in general AND their marketing. They have been on my radar for a looong time now. I need to get my hands on some of their lippies asap – right now they aren’t easily accessible in the US – I did found a seller on Ebay though.. So once I am able to, there will be post coming. These below are straight from their Instagram and they are all on my wish list.

Felted Flower Scarves

You don’t understand! I NEED a flower felted scarf – remember earlier when i mentioned that this list was going to give woodland fairy a bit?

You can find so many colors and styles. These below are more delicate and would look so cute with a white tank top, and an up-do hairstyle. I saw someone in the reviews braid the scarf into their hair which I LOVED. It’s like you saw a gorgeous flower in the garden that you picked and decorated yourself with. Like one pretty thing + another pretty thing = um double the pretty.. Simple math. God I need to read more!

Or maybe just go full bouquet around your neck. It’s like waking up in a field of flowers and popping your head out from the blooms that surround you!

This one above is my favorite, they are all handmade too! Taking something simple like wool and transforming it into a detailed flower is pure craftsmanship. I’m definitely the kind of person who enjoys pieces where they could start conversation as well.

Anything I mean ANYTHING BLUGIRL BLUMARINE Fall 2000’s era

I’m not about to say anything really unique here. Multiple collections by blumarine have seen a rise in popularity. This era were something truly special. The styling is chic, fresh, fun. The pattern combinations will get heads turning. I mean damn that is one of the many vibes I wish to portray – maybe on Tuesdays and Saturdays specifically (I do not commit to one fashion aesthetic at this time).

Their spring/summer looks are perfect too. But in a season where we typically expect colors that are deeper, more warm tones. Instead, we see leopard, pistachio green, washed blue, and light pink mixed with florals and layering.

I just don’t understand why fashion brands aren’t working these silhouettes back into their clothing lines? There is not a single look here that i would not wear.

I’m pissed right now that I cant actually buy this rn from Vons or something.

Marie Antoinette Hair .. AKA : The “Pouf”

A bit of a turn right? I’m completely intrigued that society in the 1770’s decided to build up their hair vertically. Nowadays when you see this hairstyle you might assume it’s for a costume. Even for special events I can’t say that I have seen anyone dare to make their hair so grandiose. To me it’s such a missed opportunity to make yourself stand out even more. I mean here you have more surface area to add what ever you want to your overall look. Add a string of pearls, feathers, flowers. It also just frames the face beautifully . Especially with loose strands of hair , It’s romantic, sexy and pure glam!

This hairstyle trend was another way for women to express themselves. Sculpting the hair and adding certain charms to convey a story or message. In a Lives & Legacies blog post they explained that the Pouf was used to celebrate milestones. For example birth of a baby, attending a friend’s opera, even attending a funeral.

It’s funny how in the 1770’s big hair was all the rage — hop over to the 1970’s– big hair was also … all the rage…

I’ve decided I am going to find ways to wear the Pouf in my own life, like to announce when I have my own milestones. I think what this world needs right now is more extravagance with a sprinkle of playfulness. I find that this hairstyle is also really flattering. There are definitely more “modern” ways to sport a similar look. So what I am saying is when I have a baby, I’m about to welcome that child with the Pouf 3000. Why so extra? Well…First. Impressions. Matter.

Thank you reading! What are your current fashion obsessions? Would you go for the full 5 story pouf hairstyle in your own life?
